Pikermi

Pikermi (Greek, Modern: Πικέρμι, Ancient/Katharevousa: Πικέρμιον) is a community of the Greek prefecture of Attica. Pikermi is linked with Marathonos Avenue (GR-54). The area around Pikermi are surrounded by pristine pine forests eastward and farmlands to the east and elsewhere. The mountains cover the northern part with grasslands and housing developments filled with luxurious houses northward. Pikermi is located about 19 km east of Athens, N of the Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport as well as Spata, E of the Attiki Odos (numbers 6 and 61) and a few kilometres east of Rafina. Pikermi is also the eastermost area that uses the area code (030)-210.

Businesses are the most popular industry in Pikermi, the population in the 1990s shifted from rural to urban as subruban housing boomed in Pikermi. The forest fires of 1995 ravaged parts of Pikermi, the 2005 fires damaged a part of its forest.

Pikermi features an archaeological site which has artifacts dating back to the paleolithic times.
